Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the city of Norwalk in Los Angeles County.

DSH-Metropolitan is currently accepting applications for Graduate Student Assistant, Non-Tenured/Intermittent. Working Title: Graduate Student Assistant-MSW Intern.

Graduate Student Assistants receive hands-on clinical training within a multidisciplinary forensic mental health setting while providing services under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.

Under the direction of the Chief of Social Work and the Training and Internship Coordinator, the Graduate Student Assistant provides clinical services to individuals committed to the Department of State Hospitals. Responsibilities include case management, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, psychosocial assessments, discharge planning, and participation as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

This position offers graduate social work students the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills in a structured training environment while working alongside experienced mental health professionals. Successful candidates are dependable, self-motivated, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse professional disciplines.

*Salary Ranges shown is the minimum and maximum for a full-time appointment. Salaries for part-time and/or intermittent appointments will vary.

Working Conditions

This position requires you to work within the Secured Treatment Area (STA).

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Enrolled in a Master of Social Work program from an Accredited school of Social Work
• Graduate program has established affiliation with DSH-M
• Applicant is entering 2nd year of graduate program
• Application is complete and comprehensive
